Yoshimura SERT Motul goes four it in EWC with Linfoot signing
Yoshimura SERT Motul has announced its four riders for the four-round 2024 FIM Endurance World Championship, the fourth EWC season of the alliance between the Japanese Yoshimura organisation and the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team from France. In addition to long-term Yoshimura SERT Motul star Gregg Black, Étienne Masson will embark on a second season with the squad, while Dan Linfoot has been recruited after impressing in the EWC during recent campaigns. Cocoro Atsumi, who joined the Le Mans-based team as a reserve for last September’s Bol d’Or, continues in the role for all four EWC events in 2024, as well as taking on the position of development rider. The quartet will ride the Yoshimura-tuned Suzuki GSX-R1000R on Bridgestone tyres with the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans in France marking the 2024 EWC season kick-off from 18-21 April.Yohei Kato, Yoshimura SERT Motul’s Team Director, said: “This year we welcome new rider Dan Linfoot, in addition to Gregg Black and Étienne Masson, and I am glad to make the announcement. He fits our team perfectly with his excellent performance at Suzuka and his extensive experiences in 24-hour endurance races. In addition, Cocoro Atsumi has been appointed as a reserve rider as well as a development rider. The technical team, led by Yoshimura Japan, is working hard to improve our race bike to provide the riders with a faster, stronger and more comfortable package. I believe the riders on the Yoshimura-tuned Suzuki GSX-R1000R will be able to show even better performances than last season.”Yoshimura SERT Motul Team Manager Damien Saulnier said: “A few changes have been made in the team, and we have three nationalities represented in our line-up. Yohei and I are delighted to announce the arrival of Dan Linfoot, our British rider, who will be a team-mate of Gregg Black and Étienne Masson. We were looking for an all-round rider, and I have no doubts about his talent, reliability and ability to fit in with the team. Furthermore, he has the advantage of knowing the FIM EWC circuits, and the 24-hour endurance races. Cocoro Atsumi will be a reserve rider and support us also as a development rider. The title of vice-world champion [in 2023] is a fine recognition of the mutual trust to bind us with our valuable partners. Many of them have been supporting us for years and it was not possible without them. Now let's look ahead to the new season with high motivation and desire to win.”UK-born French rider Gregg Black, 35, said: “I am very proud to be a part of this great team. The great victory in the last race of 2023, the Bol d'Or, reconfirmed our performance is high and we are ready to fight for more wins. I hope, once again, I can bring my experience and speed to get the title this year. I have been training hard this winter to be at my best. I am quite fit and I can't wait to get back on the GSX-R1000R. This year we are welcoming new team-mate Dan Linfoot and I am looking forward to sharing the bike with him. The whole team and riders have a lot of experience, and I am sure that will be the key to success. Thanks to Suzuki for the great support as well as to all our partners and fans. We will give 100 per cent of ourselves.”Dan Linfoot, a 35-year-old from Yorkshire in the UK, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Yoshimura SERT Motul for the 2024 Endurance World Championship. I have been taking part in selected EWC races and even had a chance to race a Suzuki at Suzuka [last August] and have experienced the GSX-R1000R and Bridgestone package. I really love endurance racing with its strategy and I am so excited to announce my new challenge. To be joining the team is very special, their history and pedigree speaks for itself, and I truly believe that, as a team, we can aim only for the victory and the EWC title. I’m very motivated and proud to be representing Yoshimura SERT Motul and Suzuki, and I can't wait for the season to start. Together with my experienced team-mates, I am confident that we can deliver our targets. I am excited to start working at our first tests.”Frenchman Étienne Masson, also 35, said: “I am so happy to start the new season in the best team of the championship. The Yoshimura SERT Motul is a team with high performance and experience, and I am thrilled to be back to the race with them. Last year was a little bit frustrating with much bad luck. We were always on the podium pace but there were many unexpected issues or small mistakes, and they put us behind from where we should have been. I have never been motivated like this and really excited to start the season. Gregg is my long-time team-mate, even a good friend and Dan is not a stranger in the EWC. The team spirit will be perfect and I am sure we push for the top step of the podium together.”Twenty-eight-year-old Cocoro Atsumi, from Japan, said: “I am excited and really happy to join such a strong team as Yoshimura SERT Motul. I appreciate the people who were involved in my career so far. My start [with Yoshimura SERT Motul] was as a reserve rider at the Bol d'Or last season, and it gave me an opportunity of a wildcard entry at the All Japan Road Race Championship and occasions of local tests. My understanding of the GSX-R1000R and Bridgestone tyres has been improving and also the teamwork has deepened. I hope to learn a lot from the team and my three strong team-mates this season, which will help me grow as a racing rider. I will do my best to achieve our goal to win each race and to get the EWC champion title. Of course I will standby for [when I am needed to race].”ENDSIMPORTANT NOTICE: You have received this press release as we hope it will be of interest to you. It’s all-in to win time for Finn Lahti’s EWC Pit-Lane Endurance team
Eemeli Lahti says he and his new Pit-Lane Endurance team-mates are “100 per cent going to fight for wins” in the FIM Endurance World Cup in 2024, adding that nobody in the France-based outfit is “just there to ride the bikes”.The talented Finn impressed on his EWC debut for TRT27 Bazar 2 La Bécane in last September’s Bol d’Or title decider. He returns for a season-long EWC campaign having switched teams and swapped Suzuki for Yamaha power. Partnering Enzo Boulom, Luca De Vleeschauwer and Maximilian Scheib, Lahti is intent on building on the promise he showed at Circuit Paul Ricard five months ago. “One hundred per cent we are going to fight for the wins and everyone in the team is not just there to ride the bikes, we are all there to win,”said the 27-year-old. “Speed-wise we will be quite in the top in the Superstock class and I see we have loads of potential as well. I’m looking forward to put everything towards EWC. It will be my priority from now on.”Lahti was a late addition to the TRT27 Bol d’Or attack following a recommendation by EWC legend Terry Rymer, world champion in 1992 and 1999. He heroically led the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category during the opening stages at Circuit Paul Ricard but eventually settled for eighth in class alongside then team-mates Tom Oliver and Tom Ward.“The crew I was with was phenomenal, I was really having a good time with them and felt really, really good coming into race week,” Lahti said. “Overall, it was exciting, fascinating, hard but I really did enjoy it. There were some down moments during the race, in the night, but it was a fantastic experience. The first two days after the race I was like, ‘I’m never going to do that again’. But when I was back in Finland I was quite sure I was going to do it again and again and again.”After placing fourth in the 2022 FIM Endurance World Cup for Teams, Pit-Lane Endurance was ranked 11th in 2023. However, on both occasions the team saved its best to last, completing the 2022 and 2023 seasons with third position among the Superstock teams in the Bol d’Or.Lahti joins a multi-national line-up at Pit-Lane Endurance, which also features Chilean Maximilian Scheib, 28 – its first signing announced in late December 2023 – 21-year-old Belgian Luca De Vleeschauwer and Frenchman Enzo Boulom, 27. Boulom switches to the Superstock division from the Formula EWC class, while De Vleeschauwer joined Pit-Lane Endurance for last season’s Bol d’Or having made his EWC debut earlier in the year.ENDSIMPORTANT NOTICE: You have received this press release as we hope it will be of interest to you. No Limits to Steinmayr’s EWC ambitions as former World Cup winner makes double switch
Philipp Steinmayr is preparing to bring his FIM Endurance World Cup title-winning pedigree to No Limits Motor Team in 2024 following what represents a double switch for the talented Austrian rider. As well as joining a new outfit, having previously raced for Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers CMS Motostore in the EWC, Steinmayr is swapping Yamaha for Honda power. However, he will continue to count on tyres from Dunlop, the EWC Superstock category’s official tyre supplier. The 2022 FIM Endurance World Cup winner said: “I wanted to have a change and I’m really looking forward to trying the Honda. I’ve never ridden this bike so it will be interesting.I have a really good feeling about the team, they have been on the podium two times last season and, from the outside, it’s looking good, and it seems like they’re working really well. Also, the bike is capable of winning races, which for sure is a positive aspect.”After achieving so much success in the Superstock-based FIM Endurance World Cup in 2022, back-to-back DNFs in the 24 Heures Motos and 24H SPA EWC Motos made for a tough start to the 2023 season, according to Steinmayr.“It was a little bit frustrating but we had a good end to the season with second place in the Bol d’Or so we could prove we were still capable,”the 30-year-old said. “Now I just hope we can kick off the new season with a good finish in Le Mans. My team-mates are also very strong, we have a good package but always in the 24-hour races you need a bit of luck. I hope we will have it and kick off good and then we will see. But for sure we are capable of winning.”Steinmayr joins forces with existing No Limits Motor Team riders Lorenzo Gabellini, from Italy, and Frenchmen Alexis Masbou and Johan Nigon for the upcoming FIM Endurance World Cup season. The squad finished sixth in the final 2023 FIM Endurance World Cup ranking after placing third in the Superstock-based category in both the 24 Heures Motos and the 24H SPA EWC Motos. The Italian No Limits Motor Team stated:“We are very glad to announce that in 2024 we will continue our journey with Alexis, Johan and Lorenzo. And we are more than happy to welcome Philipp in the No Limits family. Let's rock this season together”.Masbou said: “I’m happy to be able to announce my extension with the No Limits Motor Team. The crew members remain the same with Lorenzo and Johan, but thanks to the new regulations [allowing four riders to race in each Superstock team in the two 24-hour events], the team will be strengthened by Philipp Steinmayr. Honda will stay by our side for what hopefully will be an amazing 2024 season.”Meanwhile, Steinmayr will combine his EWC campaign with a season in the Internationale Deutsche Motorradmeisterschaft riding for the BCC-alpha-Van Zon-BMW squad. He finished sixth in the final IDM Superbike standings in 2023.FIM ENDURANCE WORLD CUP CALENDAR REFRESHER Round 1: 24 Heures Motos (Le Mans, France): 18-21 April | Ticket infoRound 2: 8 Hours of Spa Motos (Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium): 6-8 June | Ticket infoRound 3: 45th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, Japan): 18-21 July | Ticket info coming soonRound 4: Bol d’Or (Circuit Paul Ricard, France): 12-15 September | Ticket info ENDSIMPORTANT NOTICE: You have received this press release as we hope it will be of interest to you.
